Yesterday we got our schedule for the “New Teacher Orientation Week”. If you are not a teacher in a public school district this may not mean much to you, but if you are a teacher in a public school system and are not surprised then read the sentence again and check the date. Yes, it is mid JUNE. NOT the week before workshops – or in some years, the first day of workshops. At least that is the way it has been in the public school districts I have been in. In the worst possible example, we got our schedule every day at about 10:00 am for the rest of the day. How do you plan for anything????!!!????
This schedule has come MONTHS in advance.
Anywho, the schedule is awesome. Busy and possibly a little tiring, but awesome. I have never in my life had a workshop week schedule that included the following sentences: “Overview of household help”, “Security Issues and De-brief conducted by US Embassy”, and best of all….”Time in Classrooms”!!!!
- Divisional Curriculum Time (x 2)
- Hiring of Personal Driver, Cook and Bearer
- Dinner Out
- Dinner at ___(fill in person’s house)
- Time with Principal
Just the fact that the word US EMBASSY appears anywhere on my schedule is far superior to my former workshop week schedules.
